Fish Consomme


“We are what we eat”

With aging this statement becomes even more important because our food is direct contribution to our present health status or… our not so  healthy status.

Aging adds new requirements to our diet: much less salt, limited fat food, less meat, more fish and chicken, less or no alcohol consumption, intolerance to dairy products, more vegetables and healthy fruits, and smaller portions.

It is not always easy to adjust to the changes. However, we have to do if we want to stay healthy or healthier.

It is easier to do it with the simple, delicious and healthy recipes.

We can make our food   healthy and delicious at the same time. 

This  blog is about  cooking  healthy and delicious food and  enjoying it.

The first recipe is Fish Consommé.

Ingredients:

-Wild caught salmon, 1 pound

-Three organic white potatoes, to slice in thin pieces

-One sweet onion, if small or a half if an onion is large, cut in thin pieces.

-One shredded organic carrot.

Salt : 1/4 of tea spoon

-Grounded black Pepper and Turmeric: 1/4 of tea spoon. Turmeric’s anti-inflammatory health properties are activated in the presence of black pepper.

-Fresh squeezed lemon juice: to add one table spoon in a plate when consommé is ready

Cooking:

To cut the salmon into few pieces and place in a pot. On the top of salmon to place sliced potatoes, cover with shredded carrot and sliced onion.

Pour cold water in the pot till all content is covered completely with water and place pot on the stove.

When water comes to the boiling point, take off any foam with a spoon.

Add turmeric, black pepper and salt. Let stir for 15 min on low fire.

Serve in a deep plate or bowl.  Add one table spoon of fresh squeezed lemon juice.
